Step 1: It Starts Before You Ever Walk Into the Studio

Your boudoir experience doesn’t begin when I pick up my camera.

It starts when you reach out.

After you inquire with Love & Boudoir, we’ll talk about what you’re envisioning, why you’re considering a session and any questions or concerns you have.

And believe me, there are no stupid questions.

I have photographed enough women to know that booking a boudoir shoot can feel incredibly vulnerable.

You’re not ordering family photos where everyone puts on coordinating outfits and smiles at the camera.

You’re trusting someone to photograph you in a very intimate way.

Who you choose matters.

I want you to understand the experience before you book it, because feeling comfortable with your photographer is one of the most important parts of having an incredible boudoir session.

Once you’re officially booked, you’ll also receive information to help you prepare for your shoot.

You won’t be left Googling “how do I prepare for boudoir photos?” at midnight the night before your session.

I’ve got you.

Step 2: You Arrive at Our Private Scottsdale Boudoir Studio

Love & Boudoir is located in North Scottsdale, Arizona, next to Scottsdale Quarter and across from Kierland.

Our private 1,800-square-foot boudoir studio was intentionally created for this experience.

This isn’t a corner of a portrait studio where we occasionally photograph boudoir.

Boudoir is what we do.

The studio has multiple unique sets, different lighting options, furniture and spaces that allow us to create completely different looks throughout your session.

Sexy.

Soft.

Dark.

Editorial.

Romantic.

Bold.

You don’t have to choose one version of yourself.

We get to photograph all of her.

And when you first walk through the door?

You can be nervous.

Seriously.

I expect it.

You don’t need to walk into my studio feeling like the most confident woman on earth.

That’s my job.

Step 3: Professional Hair and Makeup

Before we photograph anything, you’re going to sit down and get pampered.

Professional hair and makeup are included in the Love & Boudoir experience.

This isn’t about making you look like someone else.

It’s about getting you camera-ready while still allowing you to look like you.

And this part of the experience is important for another reason.

It gives you time to settle in.

We talk. We laugh. You get comfortable in the space. The initial “OMG I’m actually doing this” feeling starts to disappear.

By the time we start shooting, you’ve already had time to relax and get comfortable with us.

Step 4: We’ll Figure Out What You’re Wearing

One of the most common things women tell me is:

“I have no idea what to wear for a boudoir shoot.”

Good.

You don’t have to.

You are welcome to bring your own lingerie and pieces that make you feel incredible, but you’ll also have access to the Love & Boudoir client closet.

And boudoir doesn’t have to mean one specific type of lingerie.

Sometimes it’s a bodysuit.

Sometimes it’s stockings and heels.

Sometimes it’s a button-down shirt.

Sometimes it’s something barely there.

We’ll talk about what photographs beautifully and what makes sense for the kind of images you want to create.

You don’t need to show up knowing exactly how to style yourself.

That’s part of what you’re hiring me for.

Step 5: Then Comes the Part Everyone Is Nervous About — Posing

“I don’t know how to pose.”

If I had a dollar for every woman who told me that…

Here’s what I want you to understand:

You are not supposed to know how to pose.

You’re not a professional model.

You shouldn’t have to practice boudoir poses in your bathroom mirror before coming to my studio.

I will guide you.

I will tell you where to put your hands.

Where to look.

How to position your legs.

Where to put your chin.

How to breathe.

How to move.

I’ll demonstrate when I need to.

I use posing, lighting and camera angles intentionally because understanding how to photograph the female body is a huge part of my job.

You don’t need to know what you’re doing.

I do.

That’s the difference hiring an experienced boudoir photographer makes.

“But What If I Don’t Like My Body?”

Let’s talk about this one.

Because this is usually underneath all of the other questions.

Maybe you’ve gained weight.

Maybe you’ve lost weight.

Maybe you’ve had babies.

Maybe your stomach doesn’t look the way it did ten years ago.

Maybe you have stretch marks.

Maybe you have scars.

Maybe gravity has done what gravity does.

Maybe you’re 45 years old and suddenly realizing you’ve spent half your life waiting to have the “right” body before allowing yourself to enjoy it.

I am going to tell you something I wish more women heard:

You do not need to fix your body before you photograph it.

Please stop making your current body audition for the right to be celebrated.

You don’t need to lose 20 pounds first.

You don’t need to get more toned.

You don’t need to wait until you magically become more confident.

And you definitely don’t have to be 25.

Some of my favorite photographs I’ve ever created are of women who walked into my studio convinced there were parts of themselves we needed to hide.

My job isn’t to turn you into somebody else.

It’s to understand posing, lighting and angles well enough to show you what I can already see.

Step 6: Your Boudoir Photoshoot Begins

Once you’re ready, we shoot.

Depending on your session, we’ll move through different outfits, sets, poses and lighting.

And here’s the part that surprises women:

It’s actually fun.

We laugh.

A lot.

There will probably be a point when you’re lying in some ridiculous position while I’m telling you to point your toes, arch your back, relax your mouth and breathe at the same time.

Welcome to boudoir.

But somewhere along the way, something changes.

You stop thinking so much.

You stop worrying about what your stomach is doing.

You stop wondering whether you’re “doing it right.”

And you start having fun.

That’s when we create some of the magic.

Do I Have to Get Naked During a Boudoir Photoshoot?

No.

This experience is yours.

Some women want images that are incredibly sensual and revealing.

Some prefer lingerie.

Some want implied nude images where strategically placed sheets, poses or camera angles cover everything.

And some want a combination of all of it.

There is no requirement to show a certain amount of skin to have beautiful boudoir photographs.

Your boundaries matter.

We’ll create images that feel like you.

Step 7: You Get to See Your Boudoir Photos

This might be my favorite part.

Love & Boudoir offers a same-day private image reveal and ordering appointment.

After your photoshoot, you’ll take a break while I prepare your images.

Then you’ll come into my office and see them.

And this is usually when I hear:

“OH MY GOD. THAT’S ME?!”

Yes.

That’s you.

It was you when you walked through the door, too.

During your reveal, you’ll go through your images and choose your favorites. From there, you’ll decide what you’d like to purchase and how you’d like to preserve them, whether that’s digital images, an album or other artwork.

There’s something incredibly powerful about watching a woman see herself differently in real time.

And I get to witness it over and over again.

I will never get tired of it.

Will My Boudoir Photos Be Shared Online?

Only if you give me permission.

This is something I take extremely seriously.

Boudoir photography is intimate, and your privacy matters.

The beautiful women you see throughout the Love & Boudoir website and social media have given written permission for their images to be shared.

Not every client does.

And that’s completely okay.

You don’t owe the internet your boudoir photos.

Your session can remain completely private.

How Much Does a Boudoir Photoshoot in Scottsdale Cost?

At Love & Boudoir, the session fee is currently $400 and covers the experience itself, including professional guidance, hair and makeup, access to our private Scottsdale studio, client closet and your photography session.

Images and products are purchased separately.

Digital collections currently begin at $999 and album collections begin at $1,999.

Boudoir photography can absolutely be an investment, and I believe you should understand that before booking—not find out after you’ve already fallen in love with your photographs.

Frequently Asked Questions About Boudoir Photography

Do I need experience in front of a camera?

Absolutely not. Most Love & Boudoir clients are not models and have never done a professional boudoir photoshoot before. You’ll receive posing direction throughout your entire session.

What if I’m nervous?

You probably will be—and that’s normal. Most clients are nervous when they arrive. Between hair and makeup, talking, laughing and easing into the first few poses, those nerves tend to disappear pretty quickly.

Is professional hair and makeup included?

Yes. Professional hair styling and makeup are included as part of the Love & Boudoir session experience.

Do I need to bring lingerie?

You can absolutely bring your own pieces, but you’ll also have access to our curated client closet. We’ll help you choose looks that photograph beautifully and fit the vision for your session.

Where is Love & Boudoir located?

Love & Boudoir is a private luxury boudoir photography studio in North Scottsdale, Arizona, located next to Scottsdale Quarter and across from Kierland. We serve women throughout Scottsdale, Phoenix and the greater Phoenix area, as well as clients who travel to Arizona for their sessions.

Will you tell me how to pose?

Yes. Every step of the way. You don’t need to know what to do with your body, hands, face or expression. I’ll guide you through the entire process.

Will my photographs be Photoshopped?

Every final image is professionally retouched and edited. My goal isn’t to change who you are or completely alter your body. Great boudoir photography starts with intentional lighting, posing and photography—not trying to create a different person afterward.

Are my boudoir photographs private?

Yes. Your images are not shared publicly without your written permission.

How long does a boudoir photoshoot take?

The complete experience takes several hours because it includes professional hair and makeup, your photography session and your same-day image reveal. Photography time itself can vary depending on the session you select.

When will I see my boudoir photographs?

At Love & Boudoir, you don’t have to wait weeks wondering how your photographs turned out. You’ll have a private same-day image reveal and ordering appointment after your session.
